My hubby and I have been talking about this for the past two years. We now have our home on the market and when we sell, before settling, we'd like to make the loop. The entire year at one time. Is this too ambitious? It seems like so many others take 2 to several years & make lag trips. Not me ... I want to do it all right now. So, this is the beginning..... hope to find some input here; and new friends who do the "loop.

You can do the loop quickly or slowly. It all depends on you (and the depth of your pocketbook).
The average time it takes to complete the loop is 8-12 months. Most loopers take their time and enjoy the sights and people along the way.
Many do it on a trawler (avg speed 8-10 knots), which gives you great fuel economy. If you want to do it faster, look at other boats. But be warned, the faster you go, the more you spend on gas!

We're in the same situation. Selling the house, buying the boat, and doing the Loop before "settling," if we ever do. Looked at the first two boats today, even though the house isn't even on the market yet. Had thought we'd fall for the Mainship 390, but greatly preferred the Mainship 34 Trawler, although it's pricey for us. There are so many possibilities for boats. We're trying to keep an open mind. Thoughts, anyone?
